The Hylas 42 is a spacious boat with a well thought out design. Handsome varnished teak interior with good headroom (6' 4").  Forward the Vee berth is large with an overhead hatch and plenty of storage both over and under the berth.  Next aft the salon has a U shaped dining area on port and a straight, convertible settee on starboard.  There is a fitted carpet in the salon protecting the teak and holly cabin sole.  The Nav Station, which faces forward, is on starboard and the Galley is across, on port, and the boat has a full walkaround to the Master Stateroom which has a Queen berth on the centerline. The head on starboard separates the Nav station from the Owner's cabin. There is a separate shower section with curtain enclosure. Cabin soles are teak and holly. Ventilation is quite good and the cabinetry offers loads of storage.


The walk through Galley is aft of the salon on port and features a 3 burner stainless steel Mariner propane with oven/broiler, propane moniter & controls, Norcold 12 volt  refrigerator with easy load top/front access.  S/S double sink with hot and cold pressure water are located inboard.  There is ample storage for food and utinsels and the galley has lots of light and fresh air. Galley area is conveniently placed for easy access to the cockpit.

Mechanical and engine details

There was a total rebuild on the engine in 2008 by an authorized Yanmar repair facility.  The engine has approximately 500 hours on it since the rebuild with a new turbo charger in 2012.

There is an Espar forced air diesel heater installed, but currently it does not fire - needs servicing.
